Folly
We do things to pass the time,
When we don't want to think,
We knit and bowl and read things,
Draw with pencil and with ink.
Activities like philately or dice,
Do our attentions hold,
Games with balls or playing cards,
Also help the hours unfold.
I wonder if later we'll regret,
These things that we have done,
And wish something more substantial,
Had been done instead of fun.
