Today's word is "guile" ... "Insidious cunning in attaining a goal; crafty or artful deception; duplicity."

Who
In the play, the actors fake, gentility or rage,
The gamut of our feelings there,
The turn of head; the look of dread,
Artful, composed upon the stage.
It comes from working with their craft,
And real emotions buried,
Properly deceived, we then are freed,
Reality unhinged, we laugh.
Is this willingness to leave our lives,
A guileful mirror of us all ...
The terror wild, sympathy mild,
As we become what we would hide.
Only for a moment we descend,
Into this world intense,
Where we forget, though knowing yet,
The true parts to which we bend.
