Ad absurdum

Today’s poem is “ad absurdum” ... ad ab-sur-duh m ... to the point of absurdity. (Dictionary.com)

What is this urge, to reveal,
Everything you’re thinking,
Every motive, every plan,
‘Til in detail you are sinking?

Taken ad absurdum,
All these things you’re posting,
Give more information,
Than what’s needed for your boasting.

We know your cat is white,
And what you had for lunch,
About most facets of your life,
We have a healthy hunch.

Maybe a little mystery,
Would be more enchanting,
And fewer comments would be seen,
Which would need recanting!

Over and over and over it plays,
The song of the violin,
A little earworm from a child,

Just as unforgettable,
As a maestro’s piece divine.

I’ll feel the sunny rays,
Jump in the pool and float,
And when I come back,
I’ll smile, laugh and gloat!

In this cold, sad wintertime,
A reverie will often fall,

We sigh, and plod on through the hours.
The earth will turn in its own time,
Revolving toward sunshine and flowers.

Words
Everything’s a mishmash,
A quodlibet of sorts,
In which each opinion,
The next trys to abort.

In this fight of words,
No one’s listening at all,
Just more evidence it seems,
For the logic of the fall.

Redemption may still happen,
If stone hearts can be broken,
And love is given half a chance,
While our words are spoken.

Matched in merry practiced grace,

Such beauty comes through trials dear,
Myriad mistakes and falls,
Yet through the agonies they work,
Answering perfection’s call.

It’s not just fame’s enticing,
Which lures them on and on,
But a daring dream and vision,
Stronger than a siren’s song.

You are morning shining bright,
Indigo of darkest night,
Righteous rain which falls to ground,
Desert where true prayer is found.

You are peace on glassy sea,
Whirlwind in the fall of me,
Hope inside this shriveled shell,
Power that makes a heaven of hell.

You are height, width, depth to free,
Holy, heartsome mystery,
In each moment gifts have come,
And in you, I am undone.

We will do no railing.

Though we see these weakness,

Breaks into songs of pain and toil.

The docent was speaking,
In reverential tones,
Of spaces and colors,

This pseud knew the reasons,
The art had been made,
And into the details,
Excitedly he’d wade.

But the people who listened,
To his haughty speech,
Clapped at the end,
Filled with relief.

Whew
In the beginning,
Of the world and all things,
We too were created,
And all perfection did sing.

Then, it’s said that a creature,
Silver-tongued and so sly,
Enticed us to do wrong,
Then stayed on to spy.

We were banished away,
And until the light came,
We could not do right,
So we lived with our shame.

But darkness must flee,
In the brightness of day,
And now hope becomes faith,
As we rejoice, love and pray.

Jannock ... Warning

Today’s word is “jannock” ... jan-uh k ... British, Australian Informal. honest; fair; straightforward. (Dictionary.com)

Warning
The town square,
     is not jannock anymore.
We speak and type and tweet
     like prisoners whose captors
          hold the keys.
Our cries are silenced, muted, buried ...
out of fear that a thought, unlike the rest,
          will upset the world.
All pretense of leveling
     is gone.
The question is, how do we loose our bonds,
and allow all thought to flourish?
Truth cannot be caged. It roams where it will.
Those who try to tame it,
          May be eaten.

Warm fires in the winter,

Given us by God above,
To open up our blinded eyes,

Run
Chickens running without heads,
Speech like a boustrophedon winds,
There is no frame of reference,
To calm our frantic minds.

Our experience is everything,
Our feelings reign supreme,
We see the world from inside out,
Believing every meme.

There’s no such thing as logic,
Truth is a fun house mirror,
At this rate we can’t converse,
Nothing could be clearer.

Unless we find some common ground,
This maze will be our fate,
And it won’t be pleasant,
When we find out what awaits.

Turncoats and spies,
Rebels and dark knights,
These are the ones,
Against whom, the good fights.

White hats and black,
That’s always the story,
We root for the heroes,
To show us their glory.

It’s a funny division,
Between right and wrong,
That’s written in all myths,
Sagas and songs.

Perhaps underneath,
Where our real selves lie,
Is truth that is waiting,
To be released with a sigh.

The humbled one, sublime.
