He threw the sagittate paper,
And watched it as it flew,
Flown by his artistic hand,
A folded plane, brand new.

He made one, then another,
All different shapes and forms,
Most flew fast and far,
A few were just the norm.

In his imagination,
He flew over hill and dale,
Watching tiny people,
From his craft so frail.

Favor
What is this benevolence,
Which hangs us in-between,
The things that spin before our eyes,
And those that are unseen?

We are at once below the stars,
Yet standing on the earth,
While inside our very selves,
Are worlds of cosmic worth.

We cannot catch the energy,
Which powers our own hearts,
Or plum the tiniest mysteries,
Of which we are a part.

Yet somehow we still believe,
We drive ourselves along,
Though deep within us and without,
We’re born on by holy song.

Everyone wants their pennyworth,
As they buy more than they should,

But the holiday’s are here,
And for some, gifts are expected,
And if it’s not the “right” one,
They will feel rejected.

So we’ll tippy-toe,
From one feast to the next,
Hoping the presents that we bring,
Will be remembered as the best!

Eating ‘til we say, “No more!”

But more than food is offered,
As we sit with those we love,
Thanks and praise to God,
Who gifts us from above.

There are conditions of course,

          All options open.
Time to go wherever you will
For as long as you will,
Health, to walk and climb
     And breathe the freedom in.
And no one must suffer. No children
     Languishing. No elders ignored.
No friends or lovers left alone.
And of course, no work, no office,
Unless you can take it with you.
For every wonderous step,

English language is mysterious,
With meanings wild and rare,
Some impossible to pronounce,
Some with spelling that’s a scare!

There’s no macaroni in macaronic,
Though there may be some confusion,
No ambulance in funambulist,
A tight rope walker (and his contusion.)

You can’t play music on a plethora,
It means a lot of something,
Nugatory isn’t creamy smooth,
But rather worthless as a fling.

These few strange examples,
Are just the iceburg’s tip,
Thousands more are waiting,
To trip up your mind and lips.

If your days are pages,

Then you’re the the only author,
Of something serious, or absurd.

What then are you writing,
What’s your theme or plot so far?
Have you backed up for perspective,
What’s your muse or guiding star?

No one’s acting in a non-book,
All of life’s a turning point,
With some introspection,
The end will not disappoint.

What of this restless pneuma,
This surprise which lives within?
Some say that it does not exist,
Some say it’s marred by sin.

Some are convinced that matter,
Earth and simple stone,
Became alive by magic,
To love and dance and moan.

Others believe this consciousness,
An accident of fate,
Or gift of ancient mariners,
Who out in space still wait.

But finding love’s odd qualities,
Within this human race,
Mere chance seems most incapable,
Of explaining such a grace.

Our journey is much better,
When we walk hand in hand,
Facing forward thus together,
All sorrow we’ll withstand.

And the light of God’s own son,
Will keep you safe in gracefulness,
When you have come undone.

Leaving only gossip,
