Exilic ... Abandoned

Today's word is "exilic" ... eg-ZIL-ek, ek-SIL ... Pertaining to exile, especially that of the jews in Babylon. (dictionary.com)

Abandoned

We do this to ourselves,

Separate ourselves from God,

Believing we are capable,

Able to stand. On our own.

We do this to ourselves,

Sure that we have answers,

That we are strong, though

Our exilic minds belie us.

We do this to ourselves,

Attempting to fix our brokeness ...
Mending relationships by

Throwing the jagged pieces away.

We do this to ourselves,

Because we do not believe he's near,

Standing there. Waiting for us.

His tears invisible to our eyes.
