Parageusia

Today's word is "parageusia" ... An abnormal or hallucinatory sense of taste making it difficult to tell  sweet from bitter or salty from sour.

Hungry
Candy canes and bon bons,
Chocolate by the pound,
Turkey, mashed potatoes,
And pumpkin pie abound.

Dishes full of peanuts,
Cookies, sugared plums,
Ham and jello pudding,
I think I've come undone.

All the foods of Christmas,
Gathered at one table,
Even with parageusia,
We'd eat 'till we're unable.

January first is when
The diet will begin,
And perhaps the pounds will fall away ...
'Til Christmas comes again.
