Today’s word serotinal: developing late in the season
Seasons
What could be much more serotinal
Than watching trees in fall phenomenal?
Leaves changing slowly green to red,
As squirrels tuck acorns into bed.
Spring has bright, flower-full butterflies,
Summers’ starstained nights we underlie,
Winter stakes a claim for months
As we watch our breath exhale in puffs.
But through all our varied nights and days,
As seasons swirl in circular ways,
Seeing all this regularity,
We know we can trust their constancy.
