Today’s word: “habiliments” clothes, clothing, accouterments or trappings

Messy

What about the things we wear …

            habiliments we choose with care,

The just-right hat or shirt or dress?

            Why must we not be seen a mess?

Sometimes we hide behind our faces,

            So our true natures are erased,

And no one close can peer inside

            to see insecurity or pride.

What if we could trust the love,

            God has given us from above,

And know that imperfection’s fine …

            that when we’re genuine, we shine.
