Today’s word: “chambray” Yikes! More Fabric! A linen-finished gingham.
We had a work day at church today … yes, on Sunday … is there a better day? There was amazing energy and lots of people put their faith to work.
Helping
Walking into church today
I was greeted by a sight,
People grouping everywhere
Plotting what they might
Do to help a stranger
With a hammer or a nail.
Dressed in chambray shirts and jeans
Holding brushes, paint and pails.
Instead of sitting quietly
In pews and saying prayers,
Singing hymns or listening
To a sermon about cares,
They packed themselves in vehicles
And drove to neighbors near
To paint and fix and chat awhile
To bring good news and cheer.
