Bordereau

Today’s word: “bordereau” a detailed memorandum especially with a list of documents.

Testaments
Looking for some guidance … wondering where to start.
To the electronic library I go where I find
bordereau like, testamental books in ancient order,
lying layered, the beginning of a story long and mysterious.

Beyond its beginning in explosion and smoke, and
the creation of a people who just don’t seem to be able
to keep their directions straight, is a compilation
of rules and regulations, wars and rumors of more violence.

There are sages too and prophets who wage their own battles,
leaving me with the uncomfortable feeling that there
were very few who believed that their lives would be
other than a painful journey justified only by a God of strength.

Then a new set of books came along in the trail
of a man who said to turn your cheek to your enemy,
and asked the impossible, to stop fighting and pray
for, and love those who want nothing but your agony.

Even with this perception and the recognition that
this God of graceful revelation loves in an extraordinary way;
it appears it will be difficult to follow with anything
but an awkward, stumbling step until his kingdom comes.
