Gingham

Today’s word: “gingham” clothes, clothing, accouterments or trappings

Material

From sheep to loom in a noisy room, fabric fine is woven.
Completed, it graces myriad places with its beauty chosen.
Gingham, florals, and dainty laces cover spaces in the home.
Some is worn with pride or hidden inside, close to skin and bone.

Our history’s woven in mystery, as to this world we come,
And take our place as talents race and we go both to and from.
We work and strive all our lives, threading our own story,
And shuttled time unwinds until we end in pain or glory.

But the hand that guides the pattern fine will help us in our quest,
To find the winding yearning where our hearts will be most blessed,
As deft as weft and warp become, one cloth with beauty shinning,
So we, when freed by love and grace are whole through God’s designing.
