A bit of toast with honey,
The fragrance of a grape,
Madeleine moments always impress,
And leave us full, agape.
Memories long forgotten,
Return with unnerving force,
Bringing images and feelings,
Which illuminate their source.
Childhood may return,
In an instant; in a blink,
And the bounty and the beauty,
Are as real as what you think.
