Today’s word is “intersectionality” ... in-ter-sek-shuh-nal-i-tee ... the theory that the overlap of various social identities, as race, gender, sexuality, and class, contributes to the specific type of systemic oppression and discrimination experienced by an individual. (Dictionary.com)
Stop
Are we all oppressed?
Life has a way of choosing,
Special circumstances,
Which make us feel we’re losing.
This intersectionality,
Complex beyond belief,
Makes us wish for something,
To fill us with relief.
Perhaps a little kindness,
From oppressor and oppressed,
Listening and compromise,
Would make us feel more blessed.
All are on this journey,
Each person’s value true,
Individuals not groups,
Are whom we should keep in view.
