The word for today is "arraign" ... To call or bring before a court to answer to an indictment.
Court
What if all things we do are judged,
And we are in the dock, arraigned,
And no matter how we try to fudge,
Our guilt runs on ahead like fame.
So what's the chance that we will win,
With mounds of evidence against us?
We stand burning with chagrin,
Because the way we got here's just.
Then our defender comes along side,
With a secret defense sure,
And stands in our place to defy
All charges with a motive pure.
Who would have thought of this surprise,
At this late date, this final hour?
That all of us would finally rise ...
We'd no idea of his power.
