Glued
What am I looking for
each time I pick up
My phone, iPad, the remote?
Checking every beep
Every notification. Every channel.
Every flash of light.
A compliment? A piece of
Information? The fate
Of the world? Maybe.
It’s a perfervid occupation.
Broken only by will power.
Or an interest in something
Even more engaging. Important.
Soul-searchingly relevant.
Whatever that might be.
