Lagniappe ... Gems

Today’s word is “lagniappe” ... small gift given with purchase to customer, by way of compliment or for good measure; bonus. (Dictionary.com)

Gems
A little something extra,
A lagniappe that’s all,
A happy red bird singing,
Smoke wafting in the fall.

Crunchy leaves under your feet,
A sky of brazen blue,
Given to each person,
Not reserved for just a few.

Pumpkins gathered in,
Apples shinning bright,
Bonfires in the evening,
Cheering up the night.

We’re given gifts aplenty,
Added to our breath and days,
They are graces undeserved,
Brightening our way.
