Duplicitous ... Crossed

Today’s word is “duplicitous” ... marked or characterized by deceitfulness in speech or conduct, as by speaking or acting in two different ways to different people concerning the same matter. (Dictionary.com)

Crossed
He had a green shoe on his left foot,
A yellow on his right,
Most people who knew him well,
Said he was a fright.

Half his hair was blonde,
The rest was long and brown,
His smile went half way round,
The rest was but a frown.

Because he was duplicitous,
He had not one friend,
No one to depend on,
Until the very end.

Though it seems unlikely,
That someday he’ll come around,
There is hope for all of us,
Yet it would astound!
