Bewhiskered ... Missing

Today’s word is “bewhiskered” ... bih-hwis-kerd ... ancient, as a witticism, expression, etc.; passé; hoary; having whiskers; bearded. (Dictionary.com)

Missing
Old bewhiskered phrases,
From the dim, dark past,
Make no sense to young ones,
Who’re moving all too fast.

Language has been shortened,
To fit on little phones,
People sit together texting
This is their cornerstone.

No more letter writing,
Just electronic mail,
I like it better, hearing,
The words that come by snail.
