Today's word is "troth" ... one's word or promise, especially in engaging oneself to marry; faithfulness, fidelity, or loyalty: by my troth; truth or verity: in troth.
Years
It seems that in this day and age,
When one's troth is pledged,
There are not many who fulfill,
The promise to the end.
It's easier to stop trying,
Than to stick it out and fight,
To find a love that's new,
Than struggle through the plight.
But for those who carry on,
And learn how to forgive,
Chances are they'll make it,
As they learn how best to live.
