Raze ... Lurk

Today's word is "raze" ... To tear down; demolish; level to the ground. 

Lurk

Must we watch as nations prove

That history will itself repeat?

If lessons hard remain unlearned,

And open eyes will not truth meet?

It seems so clear, yet power and might, 

Weave certainly an evil spell,

To raze, and kill and then rebuild,

Though by it, all great nations fell.

And the fallen, from their graves,

Would what to us, this moment say?

That we should pray and watch the walls,

To prevent the same end to our play?

If evil is allowed its sway,

And men of conscience do not act,

The tale's all's told. (See nations past.)

Our end will surely prove the fact.
