Apart
Every now and then,
I have a conversation,
With my sister who lives far away,
She’s my favorite relation.
Our happy sororal talks,
Range from theology to news,
To diet then to therapy,
We have so many views.
Our history does bind us,
Our childhood and our home,
Grandparents, mother, father,
Grounded us before we roamed.
Still we share a center,
Our God who stands above,
Deeper than the blood we share,
Deepens the depth of love.
