Suppletory

Today's word is "suppletory" ... Supplying a deficiency.

Warm
All gathered for a meal.
The family. A one-year old.
A ninety-five year old. Two were
eight and one was almost five. Many were
in-between. Much laughter. A game
or two and a craft. Football.
(There's always football.) A movie.
Hugs and conversation. A fire in
the fireplace. Hot cider and wine.
Tickles and giggles. Stuffed
animals and Minecraft videos.
Ideas for Christmas. Small talk.
A puppet show with monsters.
The baby happily undecorating the
Christmas tree. All this and then
the suppletory ham and trimmings.
(Plus pumpkin pie)
We would have been ok
with soup and crackers.
