Con Amore

Today's word is "Con Amore" ... With love tender enthusiasm or zeal.

Warm
They sat on the couch, con amore,
remembering ...with the borrowed dog
between them, his head resting on their legs,
His warm breath coming slowly
As he slept, content.

The boxers had been more agile
Than this dog; and the circus dog
Had been trickier. But all had been
Loyal and their personalities were
Fine, tuned and predictable.

Their hands rambled, stroking
The soft fur of days gone by,
Wondering of all the hours
Spent together with the dogs.
All the hours together, spent
With love and wonder and
Greatfullness for a world
Filled with such gifts
As dogs and each other.
