Maugre

Today's word: Maugre In spite of; notwithstanding

Requited
Come high water or the threat of fire,
Come violence or shame,
Poverty, riches, abandonment
Or valleys full of fear,
We gather as the people who have
Been saved by grace.

Hiding underground in
House church or in catacomb,
Preaching in the village square,
Or merely taking the next breath
In a torturous prison cell,
Maugre all, the God who is greater than
Any circumstance is near.

In the midst of faith and furor,
All things are held within
A promise given. It's fruition
Will be the final coming
Of a kingdom bright with
The light of all hopes
Fulfilled.
