Pleonasm ... Rays

Today’s word is “pleonasm” ... the use of more words than are necessary to express an idea; redundancy. (Dictionary.com)

Rays
The day was sticky, warm and bright,
I couldn’t see for all the light,
And until the sun went down,
I wandered all around the town.

If daylight came in many colors,
Piled up into the air like towers,
A pleaonasm it would take,
To describe that layer cake.

So we wear sunglasses dark,
To protect from rays so stark,
But welcome in all that light brings,
As a harbinger of spring.
