Frippery

The word for today is "frippery" ... Finery in dress, especially when showy, gaudy, or the like. (Dictionary.com)

Chirp
Blue and yellow, black capped
and red. Shinning little eyes
flashing in all the frippery.
Showing off, having lunch,
singing in the sun and rain
for the joy of the day.
They're collecting straw and
and string for nests ...
their babies will flutter into this
year and then the next.
