They creep up slowly to the porch,
Wary as they sniff the air,
Peanuts lure them closer,
They stop, and sit, and stare.
Their eyes full of cupidity,
Their trembling little hands,
The treat they seek is oh, so close,
We’re the bane of their bold plans.
And yet we are the masters too,
Of the peanut bowl,
And if they sit there long enough,
They’ll get their treats, they know.
