Moola
So much treasure, in so many coffers,
Think of what might have been done ...
But we build up our barns in spite of ourselves,
And spend our money on fast-fading fun.
We’re told not to love the green and the gold,
That it leads to all sorts of bad ends,
That our sense of direction will lead us astray,
And to our lesser emotions we’ll bend.
This seems to be true, with our record so far,
But good things too, have come to the fore,
If there’s a nature that’s better, to it we should plead,
Then perhaps we will choose to do more.
