Festshrift ... Quit

Today's word is "festschrift" ... FEST-shrift ... (often initial capital letter) a volume of articles, essays, etc. contributed by many authors in honor of a colleague, usually published on the occasion of retirement, an important anniversary, or the like. (Dictionary.com)

Quit
Many people wait with joy,
For that special day,
When they'll receive a Festschrift,
Piece of cake and their last pay.

It seems the goal they've longed for,
All their working lives,
Is to put down the nine-to-five,
And do what it takes to thrive.

It may be a mystery,
What this freedom will reveal,
But with a little bit of luck,
They will thrive and heal.
