Viridescent ... White

Today's word is "viridescent" ... Slightly green; greenish. (Dictionary.com)

White
Snow is finally coming,
It's been slow this year,
But it's in time for Christmas,
Bringing its own brand of cheer.

Fireplaces make more sense,
When there's cold to chase away,
And sleds and skis can reappear,
To invigorate the day.

Virdescent trees will pop,
Against the whitened gleam.
And cardinals on their rounds will go,
Like beads in a silvered dream.

Add some sleigh bells and a carol,
A manger filled with hay,
A star of wonder and you'll know,
The savior's on his way.
