Broken
There was a night, long ago,
when a group of friends met.
Nothing unusual about that.
Except that their host was
the God of their world
about to die.
And he spoke to them
of what was to come.
Of darkness and pain,
and the loss of everything
they thought they knew.
There was no need of a
deipnosophist to keep the
evening riveting.
He also spoke of love
and the redemption of
mankind. But not one of them
could get beyond the bread and
wine and sadness.
