Sparkle
What better way to commemorate,
The founding of a nation,
Than to set off girandoles,
In raucous celebration?
Watch them fly and spin away,
In red and white and blue,
Etching streaks through patriot sky,
For an idea, fragile, new.
From a small beginning,
Was this concept birthed,
Through struggle it has prospered,
Freedom’s promise on the earth.
