Quirky
“Was the world in black and white,
When you were a child?”
My son asked of me one day,
“The T.V. was,” I smiled.
When did polychromatic life,
Raise it’s joyful head,
As surprisingly it came,
From beginnings dark and dead?
What was the strange necessity,
Of brillant, vibrant hues,
When nature was selecting,
From the tiny and the few?
We are the amazed recipients,
Of all this gladsime riot,
Which sings in every corner,
Yet remains completely quiet.
