Conflagration ... Illumine

Today's word is "conflagration" ... kon-fluh-grey-shuh n ... a destructive fire, usually an extensive one. (Dictionary.com)

Illumine
Sitting quiet in my chair,
Mulling feelings in the air,
Wondering how it all will end,
Who will win, and who will bend.

Hoping for no conflagration,
That would make embers of our nations,
Praying that ideas reasoned,
Will prevail in this dark season.

If the hand of God is here,
We'd best listen and draw near,
Our best intentions up 'til now,
Have only caused our trip and fall.
