Tortoise
Walking on his stoney way,
Across the mottled sand,
Never thinking past the day,
Or if he should have planned.
Incuriously plodding on,
For so many years,
Has made his centenarian mind,
Immune to joy or fear.
He takes one step and then one more ...
It's all he manages to do,
He would be filled with much surprise,
If he discovered something new.
