Shake

I may as well be in-between,

Two points above a chasm,

Like a funambulist, poised,

In the halfway light.

Sensing wind strength,

And the swaying of the wire,

Taking one step and then another,

Slowly, carefully, in line.

The slightest change,

In posture or focus,
Could mean the difference,
Between landing and free fall.

Concentration is required,
Eyeing the far edge,
Refusing to be paralyzed,
Willing the future, come.
