Today’s word is “olericulture” ... the cultivation of vegetables for the home or market. (Dictionary.com)
Earthy
Instead of digging in the ground,
For potatoes, onions, carrots,
And learning olericulture,
(Though surely it does have merit!)
We get our veggies in a box,
Just slightly defective,
But very healthy nonetheless,
Against disease, effective.
Or they come organically,
From soil both good and pure,
We feel no guilt while peeling,
For their origins are sure.
It’s difficult when simple things,
Are a source of consternation,
Especially when it’s the food we eat ...
Our common vegetation.
