Lanes
At the end of the day,
Workers holus-bohlus depart,
Leaving cubicles behind,
As their homeward journeys start.
Into their rolling containers,
They wearily ease themselves,
With computers and cell phones,
They join the motored swell.
Back and forth they go for years,
For money or for fame,
Greatful, happy, enthused or bored,
Chasing disparate aims.
