Is this the season then,
To contemplate one's future,
The ins and outs of profits,
Emoluments and wages?
Evaluations must be done,
Taxes and levies paid,
All that disappointing stuff,
Made of numbered details.
But there are other scales,
Weighing motives meanings,
Attitudes and purposes,
And their consequences.
Of the two the latter,
May be the more important,
As on we go through winter,
The cold and windy season.
