Crepitate ... Burn

Today's word is "crepitate" ... KREP-I-teyt ... to make a crackling should; crackle. (Dictionary.com)

Burn
The night is cold; we're waiting,
Cozy, warm and sheltered,
We've heard a storm is coming,
Snow will blow helter-skelter,

But if all holds tight within,
And the fire crepitates,
We'll outlast the lashing,
And give thanks for our warm state.
