Today's word is "hypocorism" ... Hahy-POK-uh-riz-hum. A pet name; the practice of using a pet name.

The dear, sweet names they give them,
(Do they true names regret?)
Come here baby, sweetie pie, little one, boo boo,
I love you, my snookie cakes,
Please don't eat my shoe!
People can't escape this fate, sad though it may be,
Hypocorisms may await,
Not for me though, please!
