Doomscrolling ... Look

Today’s word is “doomscrolling” ... the practice of obsessively checking online news for updates, especially on social media feeds, with the expectation that the news will be bad, such that the feeling of dread from this negative expectation fuels compulsion to continue looking for updates in self-perpetuating cycle. (Dictionary.com)

Look
Increase your gloom intentionally,
Doomscroll everywhere,
Then wonder why you’re sad,
And must resort to prayer.

Addicted to the bad news,
You can not see the good,
Then sitting in the doldrums,
You wish that you could.

Look out at a mountain,
Or the falling snow,
Count the colors in a coral reef,
If you want the dark to go.
