In the public sphere,
Or quietly at home,
The scrimshank does his level best,
To retain his own shalom.
The papers pile up,
But he is busy thinking,
The sink with dishes overflows,
He’s at the t.v., winking.
He believes that somehow,
The work will disappear,
And unfortunately he’s right,
Others do it with no tears.
