Rain
Flooded homes and roads,
Sadness and ruth on faces,
Obliterated peace,
Unrecognizable places.
Water swallows all,
For class has no regard,
The next warm bed or meal,
Disappears yard, by yard, by yard.
Hoped for rescue comes,
Embodied in friends and neighbors,
And prayers from those unknown,
Who through compassion labor.
