Velleity ... Will

Today's word is "velleity" ... vuh-LEE-i-tee ... a mere wish, unaccompanied by an effort to obtain it; volition in its weakest form. (Dictionary.com)

Will
Wanting. Not having.
Like a beggar without a horse.
Though all the shiny, pretty things,
     are close enough to touch,
This golden road to having,
     is not paved with wishes.
For velleity brings nothing
     in its wake but disappointment
          laced with envy.
But those who by gratitude
     embrace their world will find
          everything therein complete.
