Sideral ... Storm

Today's word is "sidereal" ... sahy-DEER-ee-uhl ... Astronomy. determined by or from the stars: sidereal time. Astronomy. of or pertaining to the stars.

Storm
Dark clouds skutter through the sky,
Breathless moments before rain,
Leaves swoop up, then downward fly,
Gulls ground themselves to asphalt plain.

Thunder speaks with growling words,
Lightening marks its exclamation,
Nothing else is seen or heard,
Through this mighty proclamation.

Then the blast comes heavy down,
Flooding field and forested floor,
Breaking into dry earth, brown,
Readying morning's greening door.

Later, in sidereal light,
Dripping fronds tightly curl,
And through moonlight shinning bright,
Soft songs of evening unfurl.
